Everyone knows that Whitetails are our passion, but in saying that we
truly love to hunt most anything. I mean heck we even sit on the back
of a boat flinging arrows at fish jumping out of the water. Most of the
time in our travels away from home I seem to get lucky and score on the
critter we are chasing after. Although sometimes things don't work out
the way we would like them too. I had hunted Elk twice in the past and
came home both times empty handed. Again in 2008 we decided to chase
Elk with our bows. We started out in New Mexico hunting and the only
Bull we left with were the stories we had to tell.
From New Mexico we headed to Montana to hunt with Jackie Bushman and Fort Musselshell Outfitters. It was day #1 and it was a beautiful clear, cool day. When I think back to that hunt the words Jurassic Park come to mind because there were monster Elk running and screaming everywhere. I mean calves, cows and yes big stinky rutting bulls. Funny how a woman hunter cannot stand a big stinky man close to her, but she loves the thought of big stinky bulls when chasing Elk. Lee and my mother were off in the distance watching over the valley I was hunting which was right on the Mussel Shell River. This hunt did not last long as the first great Bull that walked into 50 yards on the first day felt the tip of my arrow dive into his vitals. We watched the Bull run a short distance and fall in the field. This was the first Bull Elk I had ever shot and having my mother and Lee there was a huge bonus. Lee killed on the last day of the hunt which ended our 2008 elk season with a bang. You can check out the pictures of the Elk Lee and I killed in the Huntin' Club area's Trophy Room. My Elk kill will air on the Crush the week of 7/27/09.
I will always treasure this hunt as well as the equipment I used to take my first Bull Elk. Lee and I appreciate all of our fans and I am going to be so excited for one of our Crush Road Crew members to win the bow and arrow I used to kill my first ever Bull Elk. The winner will be announced on July 31st so good luck and thanks for watching The Crush!
Peace, Love and Venison,
